Course Outcome: By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
· Understand the history, definitions and benefits of rural touring
· Identify the people involved and understand their roles and relationships
· Feel confident in creating a working rural touring budget
· Comprehend the practicalities, pleasures and pitfalls of production management in village hall and non·theatre spaces
· Review their external marketing and internal communication needs within this sector
· Explore and express the artistic value of their work within rural touring
Target Audience: This one day course will be relevant to companies, individual artists, writers, producers, administrators; anybody new to or wanting to develop an understanding of the issues involved in rural touring.
Approach: The course offers a hands-on introduction to rural touring in a highly practical way, through group work, exercises, tutor-led discussion and question and answers. There’ll be an emphasis on exploring the artistic value of taking theatre to village halls and non-theatre spaces. Participants will be encouraged to share their own experience, problems and ideas.
