Course Outcome: By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
· Understand the role of the producer, as a freelancer, project manager and general manager
· Understand the key areas of influence a producer has and identify the principles that most producers operate by
· Review their use of the different working models and target their skills more effectively
· Apply learned techniques for improving the way they manage a production.
Target Audience: This one day course is aimed at new and emerging independent producers and existing producers looking for new and different ways of working. Those whose roles involve working with producers, may also find this course useful and insightful.
Approach: This interactive course will discuss some of the ways a Producer can work, asking the participants which model they see themselves following and demonstrating each model as they relate to different projects. Participants will look at case studies throughout the course, providing a context for the topics discussed. Participants will identify exciting artists and developing their work, defining the ethos of the project, being the first audience for new ideas, co-ordinating research and development.
