Fast Track
Fast Track is a positive action programme aimed at addressing the under-representation of black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) and disabled people working in performing arts management and administration.
The scheme is designed to equip participants with the essential skills for a successful career in the performing arts as well as to improve the recruitment, staff development and other employment practices of participating organisations. During the programme, participants engage with a bespoke package of training and professional development opportunities including a flexible 15 week work placement with a performing arts organisation, mentoring and networking events.
ITC has delivered a Fast Track programme in London every year since 1997. Over this period 186 individuals and 153 arts organisations have benefited from the scheme. In 2004, ITC piloted a regional version of the programme which trained 30 BAME participants. In 2007, ITC run the first programme for disabled London-based beneficiaries.
Since its launch, the programme has been very successful in supporting participants in achieving their individual career goals and 60% of Fast Track graduates are currently working in the performing arts sector.
ITC is now testing the ground for the roll out of a National Fast Track. Watch this space for updates.
