Who are the facilitators?
All our facilitators trained with Ruth Cook, one of the UK’s most respected action learning experts in 2004. They have all worked for ITC and as freelance Action Learning facilitators since then.
Danny Hearty
Danny is the former Deputy Director at ITC. Before this, he spent 25 years working as a trainer, advisor and manager in the health and education sectors and for international human rights and environmental agencies.
Danny passionately believes that learning and professional development is enjoyable, powerful and life-enhancing. His facilitation style reflects these values.
Danny is an Executive Coach. He is an accredited Member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and is working towards becoming an Associate. He is also a certified Myers Briggs (MBTI) and Belbin Team Roles Assessor.
Pauline Gladstone
Pauline has taken on a number of roles over the years, including a head teacher of an adolescent unit, a dance teacher, an education manager for an organisation working with women ex-prisoners and Co-Director of a national umbrella organisation.
Her freelance focus nowadays is facilitating action learning, working with a wide range of organisations on resistance, confrontation, conflict and
challenge in the workplace and training voluntary and arts sector practitioners wanting to work with challenging groups.
Her clients include Arts Council England, Dance United, the National Youth Theatre, the National Youth Orchestra and Creative Junction. Pauline is accredited through the Institute of Leadership and Management as an Action Learning Facilitator. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts.
Gary Hills
Gary lives and works in Brussels and London. He has almost 30 years of international experience as a teacher, trainer and facilitator, theatre producer and arts consultant. Gary is also a writer and has written performing arts guides for UK Trade & Investment, ITC and the Canadian High Commission. He is an editor for Time Out City Guides.
Gary is a qualified personal and professional Coach and is accredited by the International Coach Federation. As well as supporting the development of artists and arts managers, he is developing his coaching skills to work with arts practitioners to test their creative ideas.
Gary's long association with ITC has involved him as a member, as Vice-Chair of the board, a trainer and facilitator, and a freelance consultant. Gary is accredited through the Institute of Leadership and Management as an Action Learning Facilitator.

Joanna Ridout
Joanna works as an arts consultant, facilitator and trainer in company development, fundraising and strategic planning. The last 22 years have involved work with touring theatre companies, performance venues, festivals, local and national government. She has been a Trustee/Director on several arts and charity boards, including ITC as vice-chair. She has worked with a diverse range of companies, including Oily Cart, Farnham Maltings, The Unicorn, The Junction and Magpie Dance.
Joanna has considerable experience in devising and delivering a range of courses in interpersonal, organisational and team-building skills, including action learning for the past five years. Informed by nearly 20 years as a regular Samaritans listening volunteer, trainer and trustee, action learning naturally brings together her professional and personal principles. Joanna is accredited through the Institute of Leadership and Management as an Action Learning Facilitator.
