In July 2025, the Charity Commission received over 1,000 applications for registration, its highest monthly figure ever. Its cumulative statistics indicate, however, that less than half of all those applications are successful*.
As funding opportunities continue to dwindle, the wider opportunities offered by charitable status can seem appealing; more importantly still, the tax breaks offered by charity status are of certain value.
If you are thinking of applying for charitable status for your organisation, do have a chat to ITC first. We’ve been helping members make successful applications for many decades. In this century alone, we’ve helped almost 150 members register as charities. In all that time, just three applications that we helped with were initially rejected, and one of those just required correction of a small technical error to be registered.
We can help you decide if charity status is right for your organisation, and whether it is right now. We can clarify what the different types of charity structure are, and which might suit your organisation. And we support members through drafting their applications and answering the questions that the Charity Commission will almost always ask. Members who have used the service recently have said –
I truly appreciate all your help and support throughout the application process. Your guidance and prompt responses made everything feel so much more manageable, and I couldn’t have navigated it all so smoothly without you. Amy Swalwell, Director & Founder, TeesDance
Enormous thanks to you for all you did to get formidAbility over the line – what a journey (pardon the cliche). Joanne Roughton-Arnold, CEO/Creative Director formidAbility
If you are considering registering your organisation as a charity, do email Jackie to arrange a chat as the first step. If you decide to go ahead and use ITC to support with applying and dealing with the Commission’s queries, we charge just £450 + VAT.
