Does my organisation need to be a limited company to join ITC?

We welcome performing arts organisations into membership at any stage in their development. If you are not already a registered company that's fine, and when you are ready to do this the ITC incorporation service is here to help you. We also help members when they are applying for charitable status.

Do I need to be paying Equity minimum rates to join ITC?

ITC negotiates standard minimum rates for the industry with Equity, the Writers Guild of Great Britain and Unite. We encourage members to pay at least these rates and to issue the standard contracts that we have negotiated on their behalf, but this is not mandatory. Members are encouraged to issue fair contracts, pay at least the National Minimum Wage and work towards issuing the full negotiated union agreements, which are distinguished by our 'ITC Ethical Manager' branding.

How do we set up a limited company?

ITC can guide you through the process of registering a new company. In particular, if you are planning to set up a not-for-profit company that is eligible for public funding you will need to feel confident that that your constitution will meet funders' requirements. ITC can provide the documents and support you need to make sure that you register a not-for-profit company that's fit for purpose and fit for funders.

Can ITC help us obtain charitable status?

ITC can support you through the Charity Commission’s quite complex registration process. We will ensure that your constitution fits the rigid requirements of Charity Law and help you present your application to the Charity Commission so that the Public Benefit of your work is clear.

NB: There is a small charge to use the company and charity services.

How can ITC help us with DBS checks?

ITC is registered with the Disclosure & Barring Service ('DBS') so we countersign DBS applications for new staff for our members in England and Wales. Unlike many DBS registered bodies we do not make any administration charge for this service.
