This 3.5-hour online course will demystify the fundamental accounting concepts and terminology that underpin financial reporting, enabling managers, board members, and other roles without formal financial qualifications to fulfil their responsibilities with confidence.

Target Audience

This course is intended to benefit those who do not have formal financial qualifications/training. Delivered using simple language, it will give attendees a better understanding of financial terminology and reports, inc: Management Accounts, Annual Accounts, Trustees/Directors’ Reports, Statements of Financial Activities, Balance Sheets and Cash-flow. Great for those in either a first-hand finance role. This course would also be useful for administrators and general managers who minute board meetings.

 

Approach

The course is an informal mix of the trainer’s presentation and discussion. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and draw on their own experiences.

 

Trainer

Jeremy Smeeth is Director of Finance and Resources at Mountview Academy and was previously Finance Director at Southbank Centre and Artsadmin. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in London and began working in performing arts financial management in 1997. From 2008 to 2012 he was Director of Finance and Administration at the National Theatre of Scotland. Previously he was Finance Director at Artsadmin and Finance Manager for Shared Experience, Company of Angels, International Workshop Festival, Chickenshed and the Orange Tree Theatre.
