What It Means to Be Fair Work Approved
By being Fair Work Approved, your company demonstrates a commitment to best practices in the industry. This designation signals to artists, employees, and stakeholders that you adhere to the sector’s agreed-upon minimum terms and conditions, providing a reliable and fair working environment.
To become Fair Work Approved, your company must:
- Be an ITC Organisation Member
- Meet or exceed the rates and conditions in the Fair Work Agreements for all applicable workers. (That means if you engage new people, you should use the FWA contract if there is a collective agreement covering that role. )
- Be registered as a company, charity or other incorporated structure, be insured, and demonstrate good financial management.
- Display the Fair Work Approved logo and unique number on all ITC-union contracts issued.
- Apply and be approved by ITC and Equity.
- FWA members should also promote trade union membership to their workforces and seek good relations with trade unions.
How to sign up
For more information or to sign up, contact Nadia at 020 7089 6820 or email n.ruiz@itc-arts.org, and she will send you over an application pack.
You must then complete and return a simple application with supporting documents.
ITC staff will review your documents and respond with any questions. Once that’s all approved, you will be added to our public list of Fair Work Approved members. Your company will be able to use contracts that show your FWA status, and be added to ITC’s list of FWA members.
There is no additional fee.
Flexibility
Our members work in many ways, and we know our contracts must fit your needs.
- Variations of the contracts are possible where agreed by ITC and the relevant union. Companies needing a variation of terms should contact ITC directly.
- Companies may continue to be use in-house contracts by agreement with ITC, so long as the documents meet the minimum terms and conditions in the collective agreements
- Some workers may prefer to stay on their existing contracts. This will not prevent accreditation if the employer has offered to move the employee onto the relevant collective agreement, but this has been turned down.
Re-accreditation for existing FWA members
Accreditation will run on an annual basis using the tax year. Each April, we will publish a list of Fair Work Approved companies for the year ahead. New companies becoming accredited will be added to that list through the year, but will need to be re-accredited the following March.
If you wish to maintain your status as an approved member, ITC will confirm you still meet the standards.
We will work with you to check your terms and conditions reflect the latest set in the collective agreements. If any changes are needed, we can advise on how to achieve this without disrupting your work.
