A recent article in The Stage considered the role of social media “influencers”. Influencers are often associated with the fashion world but theatre also has a significant culture of online reviewers, bloggers and commentators. They are often an important part of the theatre marketeer’s armoury but to be useful they must be credible and to be credible they must be independent or transparent in what they are receiving from venues or companies.
