Effective Fundraising

Focusing on trusts, foundations and government sources, this course will teach you how to identify and confidently communicate with potential funding partners. You will study the key processes and importance of strategic planning, researching, relationship nurturing and evaluating a funding campaign



By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Define the main selling points of your organisation
- Identify potential funders and the messages they want to hear
- Take advantage of unexpected opportunities
- Make effective cases for funding support
- Build and nurture funding partnerships
- Develop a long term structured approach to fundraising

Target Audience

This one-day course is aimed at those new to fundraising and those who wish to review their fundraising techniques in a workshop setting.

Approach

The course is an informal mix of the trainer’s presentation and exercises. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and talk about your own situation. Course notes and reference materials are provided. To gain the most from the day, you might find it helpful to do some preparation. It is useful if you bring a few notes about your organisation and/or a project for which you are looking for funding and investment to work on during the day - more information for this will be emailed in advance.

Trainer

Joanna Ridout is an experienced arts manager, having worked with a range of touring companies and mixed-arts venues for over 25 years. She has always been involved in fundraising and specialises in trusts, foundations and statutory partnerships. Joanna has considerable experience in devising and delivering short courses.
