Certain Blacks is an arts development organisation formed to support the growth of diverse artists. The organisation presents performance, live art, music and theatre and the creative voice of our diverse society. Our philosophy is to provide performance opportunities for new, emerging and established artists of the highest quality.  The organisation aims to challenge the norms of performance and what is seen as diverse. Certain Blacks presents art from the margins into the mainstream.  Certain Blacks has recently been awarded ACE’s Elevate Funding. Certain Blacks presented 2015’s My Vote Day Count, Arts Ensemble in 2016 and Harlem in 2017. Artists supported have included Lady Vendredi, Franko B, Shabnam Shabazi, Crying in The Wilderness and Fancy Chance. The organisation has worked with Upswing Aerial Circus (NPO)  developing diverse  artists for Circus Circus Circus in which we have also worked with 101 Creation Space (NPO) to support the development of new work for our 2019 festival.  In 2019 we presented Ensemble Festival and Circus Circus Circus Festivals . Ensemble Festival is a music and performance  in partnership with Continental Drifts (NPO) and supported by The Royal Docks, GLA and LB Newham. This festival is a free outdoor event and feature jazz from Cleveland Watkiss and Orphy Robinson and circus from Symone and Out of order, two of the companies developed at 101 Creation Space. Circus Circus Circus is a festival which has received   support from Arts Council England. The festival includes Hip Hop circus, live art with Brian Lobel presenting 24 Italian Arias (live arts and opera) and Jamel Herwood (The Privileged ).
