Good Chance is a dynamic English theatre company co-creating ground-breaking, heart-thumping, highly relevant “theatre that shakes hands with the world” (Sunday Times). We have a proven track-record of devising and producing ambitious high-quality original theatre, art and participation programmes that support under-represented artists to create new work and access new platforms, help the widest range of audiences respond to our increasingly complex world and give diverse participants across the country opportunities to take part and make connections.
Our internationally acclaimed play The Jungle grappled with the refugee crisis and Europe’s response and reached over 130,000 people in the UK and US. In 2021 our travelling production, The Walk with Little Amal told the story of a young refugee fleeing conflict through community-led art across an 8000km stage from the Syria/Turkey border to the UK. Both these award-winning works were created with people who had themselves lived through the stories being told.
Our most recent project Fly With Me, the world’s largest ever international kite festival, called on the world to come together to celebrate and preserve Afghan culture through the simple, joyful act of kite flying. In 46 locations in the UK, Europe and North America we collaborated with Afghan artists, arts and humanitarian partners and local communities to stand in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan.
Through each of these projects and our wider programme of work we grapple with today’s most urgent and complex concerns around migration and the climate crisis, demonstrating the role the arts can play in humanising the coarsening and increasingly polarised public discourse, and making positive change more possible at individual, community or societal levels.
