Scarabeus uses aerial skills and visual theatre to create spectacular productions and participation projects aimed at awakening empathy and social consciousness.
We believe high-quality cultural experiences and creativity can transform and enrich the lives of disadvantaged children, young people and families. We’re committed to making aerial and contemporary circus accessible to help build self-confidence, encourage risk-taking, and create meaningful bonds.
Scarabeus Aerial Theatre creates spectacular, unforgettable and transformative aerial theatre performances and participation projects that reach audiences, communities & young people everywhere. Currently we are working on Emerging which centres on the relationship between a trans-son, who has questioned his gender identity for as long as he can remember, and his mother, as they embark on a journey into the unknown.
Currently we are delivering Flying into Physics; an exciting new way of teaching physics to KS2 children through aerial flying. Using aerial techniques to explore physical forces, Flying into Physics makes science approachable and accessible for a wide range of learners.
We also have a 3-year grant for Flying Families; a programme of creative and physical aerial workshops for grown-ups and their children. A great way of bonding deeply for parent/carer and child and building self-confidence while learning fun new skills in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment.
