The Albany is an arts centre in the heart of Deptford that exists to inspire, develop and support creativity for the benefit of our community, encompassing the London Borough of Lewisham and beyond.
We provide an artistic and community resource where diversity and creativity flourish; a space where new talent is nurtured and exposed to new ideas; high quality creative experiences that speak to the communities we serve; and a creative centre for learning, contributing to the cultural, social and economic ecosystem of South East London.
We foster an inclusive space, both physically and culturally, where anyone can feel welcome and heard. We believe that everyone has the potential to be creative and that culture and creativity can make real change, both for individuals and on urgent issues around social justice and the climate crisis.
We put our communities at the heart of our processes and share our knowledge to shape change and create something better for everyone. We are co-operative, willing to listen and adjust our approach according to the task in hand – we love seeing amorphous ideas become reality. We are deeply rooted in Lewisham, and advocate for its residents, representing the diversity of our borough and the voices of Black and Global Majority people.
