September Members Highlights

ITC Professional Development & Networking Event – 6th September, Oxford

On 6th September ITC held a very well-attended live members’ meeting in Oxford hosted by Hub Member North Wall. It was great to meet our Oxfordshire-based members and equally brilliant to have so many members travel to the event from other parts of the country including Bristol, Coventry, Birmingham and London.

We were delighted to welcome Kevin Carson from Bectu who introduced ITC members to the new BECTU/ITC Freelance Producers’ Agreement.  Initial focus on the new union agreement lead to a very productive discussion on the important distinction between employed and freelance contracts, ethical management and care of freelancers (extending some of the well-being, appraisal and Continuing Professional Development practices to this often under-supported group). We discussed the new ITC/Equity conditions around touring, venue company contracts, balancing risk and constructive negotiations. It was an excellent group of members very ready to share experiences and generous with information. We discussed ITC membership services too and reminded members how to get the best out of our advice services, dispute resolution, mediation, training & professional development and networking.

ITC is keen to run more local live events around the UK over the next few months. Watch this space for further details and get in touch if you would like to host a meeting or suggest topics to explore. We are continuing to hold members’ online forums regularly too but it was joyous to be back in a live space with our inspiring companies and producers.

ITC is a community of over 450 performing arts companies and producers. Join us to take advantage of the considerable benefits that we offer our members.
